Dance into the Light - A Memoir

Alcoholism and mental health illness plays havoc with a lifegiving relationship between two sisters.  Bev attemps to rescue her sister Jacquelin from darkness but she does not expect to abandon herself.  After her sister’s death by suicide, Bev sets on a path of rediscovering herself in her family’s journey where she unravels the actual relationship between herself and her younger sister by eleven years.  In her memoir, Bev shows how she moved from heartbreak to renewed hope in a journey on her way back home.

No One Knew

The three women are strangers until their lives intersect in the dank basement of a decaying west-end Toronto high-rise.  ROSALIND is a social work professor who just fled an argument with her husband.  LINDA is a distraught wannabe artist who was out for her morning run.  BERNICE  is their abductor.  She has kidnapped them in a twisted attempt to save the only family she knows.  Rosalind resorts to her capacity for building relationships.  Unfortunately the people in the squat refuse to cooperate and by rationalizing her abductor’s motivations, she puts everyone in greater danger.  As vulnerabilities loom and secrets emerge all three women are in the fight of their lives.

The taxi driver who had two daughters of his own, warned the young not to go into the booze-can.  She shrugs off his advice and goes inside to dance.  After her purse is stolen and the bartender cuts her off, the night takes an unlikely turn.

Can a Seasoned Teacher Do Her Best Work on a Shifting Community College Landscape? An Inquiry.

Grounded is self-study and personal and professional reflection, this is in inquiry into how seasoned, long time and close to retirement teacher can do their best work on a shifting college landscape in a changing world.  Recognizing teaching and learning as the college’s core business, the author explores mentorship, community among teachers, faculty orientation, teacher as curriculum maker and the changing relationship among administrative leaders and faculty.  This paper offers a perspective on supporting seasoned teachers in the sustainability of genuine learning on the college landscape.  Full article can be found in the College Quarterly, Spring 2013, Volume 16 Number 2.
